Male Liposuction

In today’s highly competitive environment, men appreciate the need to always look their best.  Therefore, Dr. Joseph Mazza encourages men to investigate the possibility of Liposuction, also known as lipoplasty and suction lipectomy, if they are seeing stubborn resistant unwanted fat deposits.

What are the best areas for Male Liposuction?

Liposuction is commonly used on the abdomen, buttocks, cheeks, chin, chest (see Gynecomastia, hips, knees, neck, thighs, and upper arms.  The procedure is often performed along with other procedures, such as abdominoplasty or facelift surgery.  Some areas produce better results than other areas depending on the muscles in men.

What is liposuction surgery?

Much like the method used for female liposuction, Dr. Joseph Mazza explains to his patient that liposuction involves inserting a cannula (a slim hollow tube) into small incisions by the marked areas of the body where the excess fat is removed and the area re-contoured.  The cannula is moved through the layers of tissue and extracts the necessary fat.  Several techniques can be used.  The “super-wet” technique injects fluid into the patient’s body roughly the same amount as the fat to be extracted  The tumescent technique injects double or even triple the amount of fluid. The fat can then be suctioned away with a cannula. Dr. Mazza then stitches the incisions.

Who are the best candidates for male liposuction?

Dr. Mazza states that the best candidate for liposuction is a person who is physically healthy and of normal weight but with areas of excess fat that are resistant to regular diet and exercise. Patients should also be psychologically stable and have realistic expectations of what the procedure can offer. Patients with firm, elastic skin tend to achieve the best results, while older patients with diminished skin elasticity may not achieve the same results as a younger patient.

Liposuction is not a substitute for regular exercise and a healthy diet. However, it may improve one’s self confidence. After surgery, you’re likely to discover you’re able to wear a wider variety of clothing than before. By following a healthy diet and exercise regime, you can help to maintain your liposuction results.
